Marine Fish

A Marine Fish aquarium will offer you larger selection of beautiful and exotic fish than a typical freshwater aquarium. Careful consideration must be taken to assure your marine aquarium is a success. A aquarium with marine fish is much more time consuming than your average freshwater aquarium. You must also take into consideration the size of the aquarium and the fish you wish to purchase. Marine fish require more room than freshwater fish do so you need to determine if the aquarium you are purchasing will be big enough for the fish you plan to purchase. You will also need adequate room where the tank will be kept for up keep and for enjoyment. You should also do some research to make sure your bank account will allow it, a marine aquarium and fish can get quite expensive.

There are basically three types of saltwater aquariums you can set up. The first is a tank with only marine fish which takes a little longer to get up and running but works out a little cheaper . The down side to this type is having to do more frequent water changes due to the constant buildup of nitrates. The second type is  live rock and fish. Live rock  comes with living organisms that feed on the nitrates in the tank that aid in  filtration. Live rock is more expensive but will help you keep the aquarium more stable and cut back on frequent tank changes. Better lighting is also needed to control the organism growth. The third type is a reef aquarium which is made up of corals and invertebrates. These are the most difficult to setup and maintain as well as the most expensive. The aquarium must be kept ultra clean and monitored on a daily basis. This type is not for a beginner, you need to do a lot of research (as well as spend a lot of money) and already be comfortable and successful at setting up a marine fish tank with some members of the marine fish species. On a positive these tanks are absolutely beautiful and will give you great feeling of accomplishment and enjoyment when completed.
